Design Engineer · Product Design × Frontend Team Lead

Design engineer with 14 years across seed-stage startups and global enterprise teams. I sit between Product, Design, and Engineering: designing in code, so stakeholders and beta users get a real feel about how the system will behave.

I do the jobs the team is missing, whether that's running Scrum, turning user tests into a roadmap, supporting customers, or stepping into design mid-sprint. Small teams get one hire who covers multiple seats.

Work Experience

Embedded on client product teams as the design-engineering lead: prototyping, frontend architecture, design systems, and mentoring — plus whatever the engagement needed to ship.

Global Financial Firm — Disaster Recovery Platform

  • Founding EY engineer driving technical execution on a platform housing emergency plans for 3,000+ systems; built an interactive React prototype, with Copilot agents in the loop, that won leadership buy-in before production work began.
  • Led onboarding and training for hundreds of users on a new AI generation feature, driving the early adoption that turned into a $100K contract extension.
  • Mentored junior developers through architecture and feature-planning discussions.

Cruise Line — Immersive Guest Experience

  • Directed UI developers across two independent workstreams sharing one design library, coaching juniors toward performant, readable, reusable code and helping them delegate menial work to Copilot agents.
  • Crossed into design and delivery when gaps appeared: produced Figma solutions with the design team for unaddressed UX problems, and partnered with project managers to sequence tickets across sprints, increasing velocity.

Multimedia Talent Agency — Greenfield Platform

  • Founding frontend developer to create a reusable dynamic form framework that saved months of development. Built and extended the design system, mapped user flows as state diagrams the whole team could read, designed micro-interactions.
  • Served as Scrum Master alongside the engineering work, and ran user-testing observation — documenting errors, bugs, and feedback into an affinity map that became the prioritization roadmap.
  • Designed a node-based programming tool in Figma and created the design system behind the node editor.
  • Built it in TypeScript with HTML5 <canvas> Context2D and Svelte, visualizing abstract programming concepts — and supported the founder on the Python language interpreter when the work needed hands.
  • Partnered with Product and backend teams to design a web application for B2B logistics and transaction messages.
  • Built features in React, EmotionJS, and TypeScript.
  • Worked directly with the CEO and CTO to design editor features that made backend development approachable for programmers of every background.
  • Owned the frontend codebase end to end: code review, rendering and performance optimization, and advocating for user experience in every bug fix and feature.
  • Ran customer support for users building APIs in Dark, then fed what I learned back into specs, style and implementation guidelines, and scoped designs that fit real engineering capacity.
  • Implemented features in OCaml and ReasonML whenever engineering resources ran low, and onboarded new engineers onto the Elm/OCaml stack.
  • Migrated jcrew.com from Backbone.js to React and A/B tested features to drive sales.
  • Built proofs of concept that helped the designer define specifications for immersive product detail pages.
  • Prototyped the new mobile web player in Framer.
  • Investigated and fixed device-specific issues in the Android SDK.
  • Built an end-to-end solution generating per-ride metrics images for riders to share on social media.
  • Developed website features in Angular plus the internal CMS and Python API; researched NYC spin and boutique fitness studios to inform product decisions.
  • Owned the CMS clients used to manage ticket sales, and built a web portal for bulk mobile ticket purchases across transit platforms.
  • Prototyped interactive mobile ticket designs in HTML5 canvas, video, and CSS3; championed an integration connecting Phabricator and Bitbucket to track tasks and release cycles.
